One of the many good trade-offs about being a professor is that I can get up at 5 a.m., work out, and do two hours of professor stuff, and then spend two hours during what would normally be other people’s work hours, say 9 to 11 a.m., making cookies with my daughter.
This morning was one of those mornings. We made snickerdoodles, using The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook, a Christmas gift from Susan, Beverly’s cousin. Beverly and Ines made this recipe a couple of weeks ago, and Ines woke up this morning saying she wanted to make more. Lucky me.
Snickerdoodles are Ines’s favorite. They were also the favorite of Pawpaw, Beverly’s grandfather. We can’t make them without thinking about that great, gentle man.
